I don't understand whats so hard about letting all the conference winners and a few at large teams battle it out in a tournament while the none qualifiers with more than 6 wins play in bowl games. So what an underdog WAC or CUSA champion could end up upsetting a powerhouse BCS team and winning the national title. Things like that make sports great!

If the "playoff" is a 4 team plus one format, then the only hope for the nBe is to play a tough OOC schedule. Not just a few teams, but the conference as a whole needs to have either the #1 or #2 hardest OOC schedule. Even if, as a conference, we go .500 the conference winner, if undefeated (maybe 1 loss if other conferences have down years), will be in one of the teams in the "playoff".
